El Capitan not refreshing battery percentages

Does anyone have a problem with the Macbook not refreshing the battery percentages? Mine doesn't refresh unless I go back and forth to preferences. Normally if the battery life goes down to the 10s-20s, it would warned me to plug it in. My MB died first couples times until I have to manually monitor as I work on it. Is this a bug with the OSX? Thanks.
