Converted AVCHD files from my Canon XA20 too slow

I have the Canon XA20 and am converting the files from AVCHD to 422HQ via Clipwrap. They start sounding/looking normal but then slow down considerably. and do not correct on import to FCP7 or X for editing. What is going wrong??

Mac Pro (Mid 2012), OSX 10.10.5
