Nov 9, 2015 8:42 AM in response to Mettezzzby Loner T,Please use https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home to download W8.1 ISO directly from Microsoft and use it to create the DVD.
1. Your model from 2010 is not officially supported. The list of W8.1 supported models is available in Use Windows 8.1 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support .
2. Your model only supports installation using a physical DVD, which you can create from the downloaded ISO using Disk Utility (Yosemite): Burn a disk image to a CD or DVD .
3. You will need to install W7 first, and then upgrade to W8.1 in-place. You will not be able to use BC Assistant to directly install W8.1. You will most likely run into hardware driver issues.

Nov 10, 2015 4:07 AM in response to Mettezzzby Loner T,Can you insert an audio CD and check if it plays? Do the same test with a DVD Video. If CD works, but DVD does not, your Optical drive may need cleaning. Use a soft thin dry cloth and a plastic card (shaped like a credit card).
