How to I set up my iPad mini 2 to show the icons screen without entering a password or slide the screen

How to set my iPad mini so that I don't need to slide the screen to get started.

i Remove the password so that my 2 year old granddaughter can access the iPad but I need to remove the need to slide the screen to get started.

iPad Mini, iOS 9.0.2

The only way I know of for that work is to use a magnetic cover for your iPad. That way when you lift the cover the home screen will come right up. I use the Apple one on mine but there are many online that are quite inexpensive.
