Q: Would a faulty or broken iPhone 5s speaker keep videos from playing?
Out of the blue yesterday, my wife's iPhone 5s stopped playing videos (YouTube). In doing all the standard app clearing, deleting/reinstalling, soft reset, hard reset, etc tricks, nothing worked. In playing with it further, realizing that even videos in her Camera Roll, videos on FB/IG, in addition to YT won't play, and then finding that it wouldn't open Pandora either and in trying to make a call only to realize the other side can hear mic input from the phone, but the phone in question gives no audio return nor does it allow for the "Speaker"phone option, that it was likely something tied to the speaker.
No known indoor thunderstorms, flooding, or death-defying falls that would have caused this. so really at a loss. My conclusion is that that since we're outside of 2 years with it, that the internal self-destruct feature activated to force the purchase of a new phone as that is really the only reasonable explanation. And don't tell me that doesn't exist. ;-)
But in all seriousness, if you can at least confirm a bad/faulty speaker would prevent video playback, it would be greatly appreciated. Looking through much of the Support forums, this seems to happen a lot, but I found no mention of faulty speakers and fell that if that's a possibility, users should know.
