Q: iCloud storage being taken up when there is nothing there?

I Am trying to put my photos onto iCloud but it says there's only a certain amount of space left but when I checked i can't find anything stored there can anybody help please?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.1

You don't say how you checked to see what is there. iPhone backups are one possibility and they are not visible by using a computer and logging in to https://www.icloud.com
