Any idea what com.apple.watchdogd, and others, might be?

I upgraded last night to 10.11.1, and now the iMAC is a turtle.

In looking at the console system log, I see the following:

(timestamp) com.apple.xpc.launchd: (com.apple.watchdogd) Service only ran for 0 seconds. Pushing respond out by 10 seconds

(timestamp) watchdogd: [watchdog_daemon] @( wd_watchdog_open) - IOIteratorNext failed (kr=0)

(timestamp) watchdogd: [watchdog_daemon] @( wd_daemon_init) - could not open the connection with the kernel watchdog

(timestamp) watchdogd: [watchdog_daemon] @( main) - cannot initialize the watchdog service

These lines refresh every ten seconds.

I do not know if the lines listed below are causing a problem; they appear every thirty seconds:

(timestamp) AddressBookSourceSync: com.apple.message.domain: com.apple.AddressBook.accounts.summary

Thank you in advance for your input.

Sometimes, you can discover what something is by reading the manual page in Terminal: man watchdogd

WATCHDOGD(8) BSD System Manager's Manual WATCHDOGD(8)

NAME

watchdogd -- watchdog daemon

DESCRIPTION

watchdogd is part of the watchdog infrastructure, it ensures that both

the kernel and user spaces are making progress.

If the kernel or user space is stuck, a reboot will be triggered by the

watchdog infrastructure.

This command is not intended to be invoked directly.
