i have an ipod touch. i want to restore it. so i plug it in. i get the restore screen up on my ipod. my computer detects it on itunes. i hit restore. then upgrade and restore. then next and then agree and it says that an error occurred. every time i do so. help?

I Believe it was number 39 or 31.
go through itunes again and try to restore. try another 2 or 3 times. see if you get the same error each time.
is the cable a 3rd party one or a genuine apple usb cable?
its from apple. I have an iPhone 6plus. It's the charger from that. So it's 100% from Apple.

+check your security software. if you have antivirus or antispyware, try disabling it temporarily for 15 minutes
programs like AVG, Norton, McAfee can cause some issues when attempting to restore.
+restart your computer
+uninstall and reinstall itunes
+check for windows updates - several times (if necessary) until no more are available.
