While trying to update apps in MAS I'm getting the error message

My Apple-ID is working fine with iTunes, iCloud, iMessages and on other Apple Products (MacBook, iPad, iPhone) with MAS too.

Apple Support (First- und Second-Level) could not help after a 2 hours phone call they passed over this case to Third-Level Support. This was 3 weeks ago, I never heard again from them.

Here I found a possible solution, but I don't know how to do. That's why I'm asking for help:

Here is the solution I found:

***********************************************************

Turns out my problem was related to the location of the /Users/Shared/adi directory.

My /Users/Shared directory was a symbolic link to another volume, which, based on other research and looking at the App Store debug logs, appears to cause issues.

I removed the symlink, recreated the /Users/Shared directory on the boot volume, moved the adi directory from the other Volumes, and then recreated symlinks to the other directories I had in /Users/Shared. which resolved the App Store issue.

*****************************************************************

Could please somebody explain me step by step how to do this:

  1. Removing the symlink
  2. Recreation of the /Users/Shared directory on my boot volume
  3. Moving the adi directory from the other Volumes
  4. Then recreation of symlinks to the other directories I had in /Users/Shared.

I'm having 2 disks (one SSD "Macintosh HD", one HDD "Macintosh HD 2", the SSD contains MacOS, all Apps and a Symlink to the Users directory, the HDD contains all the rest (incl. users directories).

Thanks

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), null

Seems to be self-explanatory to me, but I'll see if I can make it any clearer for you:

Drag the /Users symlink to your Trash Can

Type <Command>-<Shift>-N to create a new Directory at the root level of your SDD and change the name to "Users" without the quotes.

Repeat this inside "Users" and name the new Directory "Shared".

Drag the "adi" directory from your HDD to "Shared" on your SDD.

Create symlinks to all users in your new SDD "Users" directory.

Create symlinks to any other contents of /Users/Shared/ directory on you HDD.

Finally I got it and my system is up and running with a working MAS 🙂

During testing I found two error messages showing up when iTunes is starting, saying there is a directory missing, but I dont know which one:

User uploaded file

User uploaded file

After clicking OK twice, everything seems to work as it should. Settings in iTunes are ok, all music is there like configured_

/Volumes/Macintosh HD 2/Users/my user/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music

Any suggestions which directories are missing? I thing I've done all symlinks... 😕

The solution described above solved my problem. I use an SSD for my OS X system and HD for my Users. Now with this fix, my Users directory is on the SSD. From this location I have now created one link to my personal account folder (responsible for the majority of my file space needs) on the HD drive. All the folders / files for everything else that was under HD Users is now on SSD Users. With this setup I can now access my purchased apps.

One other headache with my migration from Yosemite to El Capitan concerned my multi-monitor configuration. Random mouse selections were causing my upgraded system to reboot. Ugh...! I found a solution for that problem => In System Preferences / Mission Control I unchecked the box for "Displays have separate Spaces". With that setting change (and one more reboot), El Capitan appears to be working on my MacPro (early 2008).

Thanks all...
