Q: How to make USB as GPT and as well as MAC bootable?

I want to install a fresh OS Mac OS X 10.5 on iBook G4 but its DVD is showing BUS error. Now i have decided to use a USB for doing the same. I have heard that the USB should be GPT . I have made it using DISKPART under windows and then i use Transmac to restore the DMG of Mac the GPT portion vanishes !!!

USB can't boot Mac OS X on iBooks. You'll need a Firewire drive. http://www.macsales.com/ has Firewire drives.

I have a ibook G4 , How to install Mac OS X 10.5 when DVD and USB is not detecting using Option method ? Do i need an External DVD Writer [ USB Type ] for installation, Will it Detect ?

When the internal DVD drive fails, you must get a Firewire external DVD drive. USB will not work. USB will not work. USB will not work.

The other thing to remember with Leopard, you must get the original retail disc. That's discussed in more detail on this user tip:
