Hi All, could you please guide me around how to transfer songs from 2 Ipods (of different versions) and a iphone (5S) to a single Ipad?

Hi All, could you please guide me around how to transfer songs from 2 Ipods (of different versions) and a iphone (5S) into a single Ipad?

I want to consolidate my songs into one Apple machine, hence the ask.

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

Move the smaller library in a portable shape (see Make a split library portable) onto the system hosting the bigger library. Access the smaller library to make sure that its iTunes Library.xml file is brought up-to-date. Switch to the bigger library, turn off Copy files when adding to the library, import the xml of the smaller library, then dedupe (see How to remove duplicate songs), consolidate the library, delete the now redundant copy of the smaller library. Sync to the iPad.

Hi,

There are two devices. An iphone 5S and a 1st generation 30GB video ipod. Both have a lot of music stored in them. Using a USB Hub, I connected both the devices concurrently to a laptop and was able to see both the directories by clicking on the respective device names that appeared on the i tunes screen.

The iphone offered me the option of taking a backup of all the data (music) which I did. I ipod did not have the option of taking back up.

I am interested in knowing (1) after taking the i phone back up (as narrated above) where is the music stored now on the laptop? (2) How do I take the backup of the I pod songs? (3) Need the sequential steps to be followed (on the laptop after connecting the devices) to create a single directory combining the songs from the iphone and the ipod.

Thanks,

If you have content on your devices that isn't in one of your libraries see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. An iPhone backup does not include media that wasn't purchased from the iTunes Store.

A feature introduced with iOS 9 referred to as app thinning or app slicing allows each device to download only the code and resources needed by that device, resulting in smaller downloads and better use of storage on the device. As a consequence the device no longer holds the universal version of the app that could be installed on any device so transferring apps is no longer supported. Hopefully Apple will make some changes to the way this works, but in the meantime you can download past purchases from iTunes and/or enable automatic downloads of app purchases to make sure that iTunes always has the apps that you want on your device. As long as you make sure all apps are present and updated in iTunes before attempting a restore there should be no loss of data. I can't confirm, but it seems a recent update means that all data is restored and apps that are not in the library are queued for download from the iTunes Store over Wi-Fi, in a similar fashion to the way restore from iCloud works, making this less of an issue.

Connect each device in turn and extract any media that you wish to recover using the first link in this post. Then proceed as in my previous post.
