May 9, 2016 8:54 PM in response to KC_Eezyby VEZE_Pilot,I found the answer to this problem of the Java 6 install not verifying.
The problem is a new layer of security, called SIP.
I need to run this version of Java in order to use an old version of Photoshop. If you do not have a critical need to Disable SIP, you probably shouldn't. But here's how:
Plug in Corded (not Wireless) Keyboard and Mouse controls ... these steps won't work with Wireless devices.
Restart your Mac, and when you hear the Chime, hold down the Command and R keys until you see the Startup Progress Bar.
This starts your Mac in Recovery Mode.
Once booted in Recovery Mode, pull down the "utilities" menu and select Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type:
csrutil disable; reboot
Or, you can see the origin of these steps and a description here:
http://www.idigitaltimes.com/java-os-x-1011-how-install-version-6-8-el-capitan-4 83842
Then run the Java 6 DMG file, and the install will work just fine.

May 10, 2016 5:40 AM in response to VEZE_Pilotby Barney-15E,This problem has no connection to SIP.
Software downloads from Apple are provided on a disk image that must mount prior to being useful. If the download is somehow corrupt, the disk image will not verify. SIP is not stopping that process from happening as it has nothing to do with verifying a disk image.

May 10, 2016 5:43 AM in response to KC_Eezyby Barney-15E,A disk image that won't verify could be corrupt in some way. Did you try downloading it again?
You can also just try clicking the Skip button to not verify the disk image prior to mounting.

May 10, 2016 7:29 AM in response to Barney-15Eby VEZE_Pilot,Well, I guess we disagree, Barney. Yes, I did download the disk image ... three times. And then after I performed the fix as I described it, the same disc image worked just fine. It went through Verifying so fast it never even displayed that dialogue. Installed the Java 6, and now I can run my older Photoshop.
It works as I described it, and it certainly DID NOT before. Thanks for your help, anyway.
Oh, and why did you not respond to this technical issue six months ago, when KC_Eezy first asked about it ... ?
Anyway ... I sure am enjoying my brand new 27" 5K Quad core i5 iMac, which I purchased in a regular Apple Store. Fantastic machine, best ever of all the Macs (eight since June 1984) I've ever had. Love It!

Because I don't get paid to watch every post every day. I don't even get paid to watch a single post.
