Importing Nikon Raw files

Importing Nikon Raw files

I have a MacBook Pro, recently I tried to import pictures from my Nikon D800E, previously I could use the Nikon Capture NX2 to import the raw files and have control. Now I find when I plug in my camera, the D800 comes up in Photo and I can only import files as jpegs. If I try to find these files using Lightroom I can't see them. Has anyone had the same problems ? How can I use Nikon Capture to import RAW files?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), upgraded to Samsung 850 SSD

There are plenty of options.

1. Pop the card into a card reader and use the Finder

2. Or use Image Capture.

3. Or set Photos not to launch and tell Lightroom to launch instead.

BTW Photos does import Raws and you can get them out of it by simply going File -> Export -> Unmodified Original

Hi

Yep used a card reader & finder then Capture I can now get the RAW files. Seems things have gone backwards as I used to just connect the camera direct to macbook

Thanks for the help, at least I can get on with Christmas pictures of the grandchildren.
