How can you modify/edit form fields of a pdf in Preview?

I have a pdf doc that has form fields already made, but I need to change the format of those fields. Can I, or how can I do that with Preview?

MacBook Pro (17-inch Late 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Preview is a pdf viewer with some added markup capabilities - changing form fields, etc. would require a different app. I don't know if Adobe Reader has the capabilities you are looking for.
