The bottom line is you cannot get text messages without your iPhone. Have your mom tell you the 2-step codes.

It's not surprising to me that AT&T couldn't help you with this as it's sort of beyond their scope to think about this sort of thing.
And in case you don't know this and it helps, you can send texts to other AT&T users by using your computer and your email.
If the person's telephone number you're sending to is (987) 654-3210, sending an email to 9876543210@txt.att.net would end up sending them a text message.
