iBook G3 Clamshell

Hi all, does anyone know a way to remove the casing (blue plastic) on an iBook G3 Clamshell? I am putting it on another iBook.

From the few items I've see about this, a usual path would be to take the computer

apart and gut the insides, until you arrive at an empty case. Then, start over on the

other computer and build up the parts inside the other case you'd have emptied...

There is this iBook Clamshell guide from iFixit, w/ sections on display, & case sections:

https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iBook_G3_Clamshell

While there does not appear to be a guide to disassemble the display (take-apart) a

guide to take all the parts out of the lower section exists, to gut that section:

• iBook G3 Clamshell Lower Case Replacement - iFixit:

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iBook+G3+Clamshell+Lower+Case+Replacement/118

{the last step ^ here shows a metal static shield still in place; & screws to remove it}

So the take would be considered Difficult since doing these steps may damage parts

and systems that may require extra effort to troubleshoot & repair, in the process. I've

not searched for a guide to disassemble the display section to its shell. Maybe a site

or sources online could have some other guides or youtube video to take this apart.

Here's a search result link that has a few of possible interest:

You can find certain parts, such as the display back/polycarbonate for this G3 Clamshell

at the PowerBook Medic site; the price & condition may vary, depends on their inventory:

In any event, have fun...

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
