My new magic mouse will not scroll. I followed the instructions I found on this site and went to settings, accessibility, mouse and trackpad, and mouse options. There is no check box for scrolling. There is only a box that says scrolling speed. Help!

yes it is a magic mouse 2 and I am running OS X 10.10.5 (14F27). Will it not work?
No. You need El Capitan 10.11.1 for it to work properly. It does say so on the box but to be fair to you, you don't expect exclusivity with a mouse do you?

I think your macbook Air will accept the upgrade. If it is less than 14 days since you bought the mouse (28 days in the UK, I believe) you could return it for a refund. Thank you for the star.
I have this problem too with the scrolling on magic mouse 2 and the upgrade you are telling us to get is not available and if so its not coming up through the update option. My iMac says it has the latest available update but that is only OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
