Apple Remote Desktop crashes

I am running ARD 3.8 (3.8.1) on a Mac Mini under OSX 10.11.1. Until today, I had no issues. Now I am getting a crash whenever I try to start the program. I've looked for the 'com.apple.remotedesktop.plist' file in /library/preferences, but it does not seem to exist. I did find a file called 'com.apple.remotedesktop.plist.lockfile' and removed that, but this did not fix the issue. I don't want to delete my database and other customization, based on the info on this page (Uninstall or disable Apple Remote Desktop - Apple Support). I tried deleting the app and reinstalling from the app store with no luck. I am able to run the app under a different account on the same computer, but again, without my database or customization.
