Q: ipod 5 gen mic problem

Hi. I thought this may help people with mic problems on the iPod touch 5th generation. I purchased a used iPod touch 5th gen today knowing the mic was faulty, the used dealer let me have it cheap due to this problem. I had a look on here and got some tips. After trying everything to fix it I was about to give up when I noticed although the iPod would not pick up my voice it did pick up sounds when during the recording I tapped the back of the iPod close to the mic hole. I then examined the iPod under a strong magnifying glass and noticed inside the mic hole was a yellow colour. I got a slither of plastic and started gently pocking it in the hole and bits of yellow started coming out.I can only think the previous owner had some substance that got into the mic hole blocking it.I spent about 5 to 10 mins gently picking away and it know functions perfectly. I thought that  I would put this on here hoping to help others with a similar problem. Thanks.
