Q: Building a Photo Book

I am building a photo book from a recent cruise.  When I insert photos into the book, a couple of the photos have a yellow ( or a red)  warning triangle with and i in the middle.  Don't know what this means or what action I'm supposed to take.  If I ignore this will the symbol appear on the book as i does on the page?

If you see an alert (red triangle) while working on a book

If you see a red triangle with an exclamation point while working on a book, there’s text that doesn’t fit in the available space, either because the font is too large or the text uses too many characters.

    Triangle alert icon

To fix an alert, do one of the following:

    • Reduce the space the text takes by changing the text’s font, typeface, or size.
    • Edit the text so that it uses fewer words.

The yellow warning triangle is a low resolution warning and  means, that the pixel size of the photo is too small for the photos box.  Move it to a smaller photo place holder, otherwise it may look blurry.  iPhoto & Aperture: Warning icon when ordering photo products - Apple Support

The warning triangles will not be printed, but you should fix the issues before submitting the book for printing.

    Is this what you're seeing?

    Photos002.jpg

That's an indication that the pixel dimensions are below what Photos considers minimum for an acceptable resolution for a print.

With iPhoto 11 that limit was 150 dpi.  What are the pixel dimensions of those images ann what size frame are have they been placed into?  Uses have reported that books printed with picture with that indication did look fine to them. It's obviously a personal preference.  If those images are placed in full page frames try putting them in smaller frames.

Also before ordering the book review it according to this Apple document: Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture to avoid issues - Apple Support. Save the PDF file to compare it to the printed version when it arrives.

Thanks. Guess that means finding another photo or,  like you said, a smaller frame.  Can I assume that the red warning triangle means the problem is more severe, in which case just using another photo is the best option.  Thanks for your help and advice.

Opps.  Missed the red color:  That means you have some text that is too long for the text box it's in, i.e. it's overflowing the text box.

If the text ends properly in the text box the problem could be several invisible returns that is causing the overflow.
