when the apple logo comes up with a loading bar and it reaches half way. The computer will do it again

Q: IMac won't load
Please describe a problem in a bit more detail. Is this during Windows, OS X, Recovery Console, Software Upgrade...?
I downloaded the latest version on the App Store and worked fine for a couple of days. I've tried resetting it with the commands apple gives you to reset it but they don't work
1. What year/model is your Mac?
2. I assume you downloaded a software update. The Software Update is not completing successfully.
3. Can you describe the specific commands you have used to 'reset' your Mac?
I got the computer new in 2010.27" I've tried command r, d, and option command p r
