I can't believe it either! Why Apple ought to invent something like AirDrop for just that purpose! Oh. Apple has invented AirDrop for just that purpose. Share content with AirDrop from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

AirDrop has specific hardware and operating system requirements: Share content with AirDrop from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. If either your MacBook or the iPhone you wish to use does not meet them, use the Share option shown above.
