I have some pictures that I emailed to myself from my iPhone that are now on my desktop and I cannot delete or move them to the trash. This comes up:
The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.
(Error code -43)

I found that holding the option / alt key and using the Finder option 'delete immediately' solved the issue for me.
Gut feel this is a permissions error somewhere in the Mac OS rather than a lock and wonder why Apple have removed the disk util to check permissions...
