The new iPad Pro looks lovely - wondering if anyone is using an iPad for a RAW Photo workflow and how they do it?
Would be nice to get the good photos from the DSLR to the iPad and then organize them, rename them using exif data and then run some standard filters on them.
Any good Apps handle this? Or is it too early?
Apple store guy suggested that if I'm a photographer who uses RAW, I should buy a Mac Laptop.
Sad that the iPad pro isn't for us creative types. /s
You can use the iPad Pro in a blended photography workflow. I import RAW into desktop Lightroom then use a combination of iOS Lightroom (for selection and rating), and Astropad for the rare times I need to heavily edit a photo. It's not totally self-contained, but it's quite productive and allows me to do a good portion of my workflow from the couch, and even in a mobile environment, especially the Lightroom part. I really need a DAM in my workflow and it's a bit unreasonable to expect the iPad to do the job of a multi-terabyte RAID. Where it absolutely excels is when combined with a Pencil; the next cheapest solution would be something like a Wacom Cintiq, and even then the experience isn't as good as an iPad Pro + Pencil.

Rather than springing for a new iMac, I'm considering sticking with my minimally workable early 2009 iMac but ditching the Wacom tablet and replacing it with an iPad Pro+ Pencil both as a stand-alone tablet with the Adobe Mobile apps and as the input device for the iMac.
However it means a workflow sea-change and that's always tough.
Currently I shoot RAW and use a RAW>ACR>Photoshop workflow. Bringing the iPad Pro+Pencil into the mix would change that to be a JPEG-based workflow: I'd shoot RAW+JPEG but process the JPEG as much on the iPad as the iMac, and essentially archive the RAW for occasional high resolution editing.
Using the iPad that way should make web-based sharing and posting much easier. Feedback welcome...
