BT Apple trackpad won't stay connected

Over the past few months either my Apple trackpad or my iMac has developed electronic dementia and won't remember the pairing. If I restart both devices it remembers for a day, then the iMac stops responding to the trackpad. I'm a slacker when it comes to shutting down; don't know if that might be a contributing factor. Any ideas?

Been having sporadic connection issues for a while. Today, I just now turned it off and went back to my logitech mouse which doesn't work correctly. I need the trackpad when at my desk with my macbook plugged into an external monitor. Constantly losing connection while I'm using it. 80% battery so that's not the issue. I just replaced the batteries last week. OS X 10.11.1. Don't know why today it's a total fail. Very frustrating. Especially since Safari has been freezing sporadically as well and my iPhone 5s (only a few months old) now has bugs and severe battery problems.

Shutting down or not should have no effect on trackpad. The need to shut down is as much a security matter than anything and depends on whether you need to prevent access.

Your trackpad problem is as like as not due to interference. See this article on the problem.

You have two different problems. Check the article above for the mouse problems and write a new single issue question about Safari freezing.
