Q: Is Apple making people repurchase films with closed-captioning when they were purchased previously without captioning?
I'm someone with a severe hearing loss. Back in 2013, I purchased "Risky Business." At the time, the film was offered without closed-captioning, and I got it because friends could help me follow the film. Recently, when looking on the iTunes Store, I noticed Apple were now offering it with closed-captioning. Since I can delete purchased films (or at least the media file) from my library without deleting the purchase. I thought I could re-download the film and the new file would include the captioning. It didn't. I can confirm, through a great number of other purchases, that when Apple shows a film as having captions, that film has captions. So I'm trying to figure out what's going on here. I wouldn't like to think that Apple would take advantage of someone's disability to force a re-purchase, but that's exactly what this feels like. I submitted this issue to iTunes support and the person who helped me was pathetically useless. He didn't read anything I had written, and went completely off a script, and never followed up. So I'm throwing it out to the community here. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
