Q: Using Message app for Android user

I used to be an iPhone user and I have a MacBook. I used to use the Message app to receive and send out text messages instead of my iPhone. I understand that my iPhone forwards the messages or connects to my Macbook. Now I have switched to Android. Is there a way I can still use the Message app in my MacBook to receive and send out text messages while using my Android?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

I see you're wondering about sending SMS from your Mac with your Android phone. In short, no it will not work. The ability to send SMS from your Mac is dependent on you having an iPhone, as it uses the phone number and connection to the iPhone to send it.
