How do I share a document thru email? In the past, Share gave me the option to share to email.  Where did that feature go?

Ferd II,  This is how mine looks.  I have shared documents to mail for years.  Now the option does not appear on my drop-down "share" menu.

    TL,

Is Mail selected in your System Preferences...>Extensions>Share Menu?

Your launch services database is stale. Open the Terminal app from the Other category in the Launchpad. Copy/paste the following into the Terminal app, and press return to run it. This will rebuild your launch services database with current applications that are installed. Shutdown your computer. When you boot up again, visit System Preferences : Extensions :  Share menu, and see if Mail is now available to select. If so, it will now appear in your Pages application.

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -seed -domain local -domain system -domain user

    VikingOSX,

I noticed that TL's image shows the Messages check box as greyed out.

Could the LSDB also be the reason why my Mail/AirDrop/Messages check marks are greyed out, i.e. not user selectable?

Thanks for posting this solution.  It worked perfectly!   It was scary to copy and paste into Terminal --- I held my breath until my computer finished rebooting.

Prior to, and after running my lsregister solution, I too had Share Menu items pre-selected in immutable gray. A couple of minutes ago, I performed a safe boot, and moved my local Library Caches contents to the Trash — something I rarely do. I shutdown, and after I rebooted, I emptied the Trash. Then I opened the Extensions Share menu preferences, and some, but not all items were back to the blue checkbox. Within 60 seconds, they transitioned back to the immutable gray right before my eyes.

That shouts daemon to me. Something scans these items and flips their state. I would like to see this addressed in future El Capitan updates. We shouldn't need to resort to lsregister in the Terminal.

I originally posted the official Apple response to missing Share Menu items, in another post, and I simply enhanced it with my version of lsregister invocation that I have been using for years.

Sorry to reenter this discussion.  My problem was salved with the cut and paste into Terminal app but only if I do not reboot.  The next morning all of the selectable extensions added to shared were once again missing.  I'm back to square one unless I paste the command to the terminal app each time I start the computer.  What Step am I missing to save these changes?

    Thanks again

Did you recently update from an older version of OS X and if so, what version was that? Need that answer before you do the following.

There is only one other thing that I can think of to do, as normally the lsregister results would stick across rebooting. If the following does not work, the ball will be in Apple's court.

    1. Boot into Recovery mode (command-R) from a cold boot
    2. Choose Terminal from the Utilities menu
      1. In the Terminal, type csrutil disable
      2. Quit Utilities
      3. Reboot
    3. Launch the Terminal, and run the lsregister command sequence again
    4. Shutdown
    5. Boot into Recovery again
    6. Choose Terminal from the Utilities
      1. In the Terminal, type csrutil enable
      2. Quit Utilities
      3. Reboot
    7. Check your Sharing items again.

Hi, i have the same problem.

I can not send any documents with share link to emails.

I did copy the link, reboot the computer. In the extensions share menu the mail is marked in grey.

Could this be a reason not to work?

What specific version of Pages, and of OS X are you using? The Send Via Mail option in Pages '09 Sharing menu is no longer functional in Yosemite and beyond.
