App to transfer an active call to another number?

Does anyone know how to transfer an active / live call that you are currently engaged in to another number? This is not call forwarding. I called my cell network provider (ATT) and there is no such way on their end. Does anyone know of an app that can do this?

I am trying to work from home, but if I get a call on my cell that needs to be routed to another department, I don't want to tell the customer to hang up and dial X-number. I think it is much more professional to transfer the call.

Call conferencing won't work either unless I decide to stay on the line the whole time (the call would disconnect as soon as I hung up).

Any apps out there that can do this?

Call forwarding would forward ALL calls to another number. I do not need ALL calls forwarded to another number, only certain customers who accidentally call me direct, but really need a different department.

ETA: I often forward my office phone to my cell phone and this is when the problem happens. Once I answer the call from my cell, I have no way of forwarding the customer to the right department.

I'm not aware of an app that could do that. You are referring to what you can do with a PBX system, and the cellular system cannot act that way. That is why AT&T said they could not do it. I'm not aware of a way to do it outside of a PBX system.

You are actually not trying to forward a call, you are trying to transfer a call. This is why I mentioned the PBX, your office phone system. Because of the way the office system works, you can transfer a call to another phone on the system. You cannot do that from a cell phone.

Yes, exactly. I was wondering if there was an app out there that could handle this task? I looked, I see a lot of call forwarding apps, but not one that can actively transfer a live call from a cell phone to another phone number.

I don't believe it can be done. The way an office system works allows for the transfer. Your call being forwarded to your cell changes things. I've not seen a phone outside of a PBX that can transfer a live call.
