Q: I have an app which was purchased on an earlier mac about three years ago. I downloaded it to my new apple computer. Apple tells me that I have to use the old app store sign in from three years ago. I have no idea and do not understand
three years ago I purchased a game app which I really enjoy. I have it on two or three of my computers. I was recently informed that I no longer had use of the ap because I purchased it with a different sign in (a different password, since I have always had the same ap store account but I changed the password per apple's suggestion when I purchased my newest Mac). I do not remember my old password. Sorry if you think that's dumb, but I just do not have that old computer and I do not have it written down anywhere that I can find.
I am happy to purchase the ap over again, which is what I assumed apple was demanding in an effort to increase sales. I don't mind and I'm happy to buy it again.
No can do. I am not allowed to re-purchase the ap. To add insult to injury, the app which has worked for three years on two other computers is now not functioning on either of them either, and, of course, I cannot purchase the app again on any of those computers.
What is interesting is that I have a number of apps which I transported when I upgraded my newest computer. They were all purchased on the older model. None of them is causing Apple any problem at all. No calls for old passwords, no hiccups, no problems.
If anyone has any idea of what apple is up to with this silliness or if you have any suggestions for a work around, it would be immensely appreciated. Admittedly, it is just a game. None of Apple's software which was all purchased at least three years ago and kept on several different computers have any problems with being used on a brand new computer on which none of the software was purchased from the App Store, all of it was transferred just a couple of weeks ago.
Helllllp!!!
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
