What does the akd process do?

Activity Monitor lists which users are running each process, so it shouldn't be a mystery as to what is running AuthKit.

Ok so your saying it will show up in "activity monitor",

i had no idea it would show up there., although its logical lol!.,

So i guess its normal to see tons of users such as :

My user name,

root,

_locationd,

_analyticsd,

_fpsd,

_locationd,

and of course for the akd its my user and root., my guess its Apple Store verifying purchases or downloads

Can't be sure, but I'd assume it is the Auth Kit daemon. A daemon that handles all the authentication needs of the OS.

As I have no firewall, it must get through for me and it isn't a problem.

Yes, three in fact. One for root an one each for the two logged in users.

Yes, there are some 80+ users that manage all of the background processes.
