Q: Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup.  Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed.  When I woke up it was "dead".  It wouldn't wake up.  I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life.  Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand.  Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day.  Came back to it, same thing.  Dead.  I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing.  I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try.  Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

I had the exact same problem with the iPad Pro: it died on me.

I got my new iPad Pro last night, and I configured it, etc., and set it to recharge before going to bed. When I got up this morning, it was absolutely — completely, completely, completely — dead. (And, I could not get it to restart no matter what I did.)

I had it for less than 9 hours.

I took it back for a refund because I thought it was a lemon. And, when I did, they were all out of the iPad Pro 128gb model that I wanted. Arggggh.

However, I had no idea that anyone else was having "issues" with theirs as well.

Sad that no one in the store told you this.   I'm certain someone there has heard about this a million times

To solve the charging issue, hold home and power buttons together until Apple appears, about 15 seconds.

Then go to settings,iCloud, backup, then back up manually,

I did this and have had no problems since.

I Finally got my iPad pro last night. I have the 128gab gold wifi/cell model. When I turn it on for the first time I loaded up as a new install no back up.   I also had Siri on and everything.   The only thing I didn't do is use the charger and cable that came with it.   I use the charger and cable that came with my iPad Air 2.  Charged all night and this morning it turn on without any problems.   I been using it for about a few hours then I am going to put it back on the charger to see if I have any problems tomorrow .  Hope not.   I will be getting Apple care for this iPad Just in case but for now I be testing it.   Hope this helps out to anybody that having the blackout problem.

I Purchased a 128gb iPad Pro last week, every time it's been on charge to 100% it needs to be reset which is a pain. Has there been any official (or unofficial) comment from Apple yet?

I had a dream overnight. Siri talked to me and asked, "whytf did you not turn me on? This way I cannot give you any sweat ..äh sweet dreams." And look, I turned on "Hey Siri" and my iPad Pro was so lucky that it was still alive after charging to 100% overnight ;-)

But to be serious. Makes a kind of sense, because the Hey Siri function only works when charging. Maybe Siri is so frustrated overnight, because nobody is calling here, that She kills the iPad Pro ;-)

TThis is an outrageous situation. To occur to some many iPads , many from day one, and to people all over the world, it's inconceivable that this was not flagged up, during trials and reviews pre release.

SHame on Apple for not fixing it pre release, and seemingly, doing nothing quickly to remedy it. These are very expensive paperweights.

WHy should I have to enable Siri, to make this thing work? I loathe Siri, and never use it on my iphone. If this is the fix, why have Apple not sorted it?

i Sent my (second) ipad back, and got a refund.

This helped me: Home button and Start button simultaneous pressed for 20 sec-30 sec! But this experience was very very frustrating to charge over the night and wake up to see your new 7 day old ipad pro 128G LTE died!very bad product! sorry not acceptable this behavior and shock! is so expensive this product that this kind of behavior is unacceptable! This king of missing support and immediately public reaction unacceptable!

HI, second day with my iPad pro and still working good without no problems.   Still using the iPad air2 cable and charger to charge up my iPad pro.  Tonight i will try the charger and cable that came with the ipad pro to see if there's a difference .  Will keep you all posted on the results.   Hope Apple comes out with a fix soon.
