Does anyone know if or when a UK English Smart Keyboard might be coming on the market? I understand this is a third-party product so doubt of Apple will know.

I you set your hardware keyboard to British in Settings->Keyboards then when you type Shift 3 you get a £ character.  This has just been typed with a Smart keyboard on the iPad Pro.

Many thanks for that Eric Flat.

I guess then that the splurge on the Apple iPad Pro website is misleading when it states that "..only the US keyboard is available..."

I guess they're referring to the physical layout of the keys - on the US layout (the only one currently available) then the shifted 3 character is a # sign, and this is what displays on your screen but if you change the region for the keyboard in Settings as mentioned above you get the £ sign when you type a shifted 3.

So it's misleading but not inaccurate I suppose.  I'm just glad I can type the £ sign (if you do need the # sign it's Option 3 with the hardware keyboard set to British)

"Keyboard" refers to  the printing on the hardware.  See this page for the various apple keyboards that users might want smart versions of:
