Siri remote losing connection

i bought a 4th generation Apple TV andthe remote is constantly connecting and disconnecting from the Apple TV. Every few minutes we will see (remote connection lost) or the converse. It shows the remote as charged and I have fully charged the remote. It even does this when charging. Any suggestions?

My remote has always done this and my Apple TV has always been connected via Ethernet port. It's thought I'd be able to live with it but it has become quite annoying. You would think it would be a simple patch fix. I really don't have time to take my remote in to get fixed nor feeling spending more on a new remote or even worse a whole new Apple TV. Why can't it just work properly without me having to do something on my end for once?

Try pairing:

The Siri Remote comes automatically paired to your Apple TV. If it disconnects or you get a replacement remote, you’ll need to manually pair it to Apple TV.

You can pair the Siri Remote with only one Apple TV at a time. When you pair a remote, any other paired remote is automatically unpaired.

Pair the Siri Remote with Apple TV. Turn on Apple TV and position the Siri Remote so it’s within 3 to 4 inches (8 to 10 cm) and pointing at the front of Apple TV. Then press and hold the User uploaded file button and the Up button User uploaded file for 2 seconds. When the Siri Remote is successfully paired, an onscreen message appears.

It's persistant. It's got to be a hardware problem. The remote doesn't always wake the Apple TV.

Also, after waking the Apple TV, it doesn't always refresh its internet connection. So, you can't listen to songs from Apple Music or see new "for you" content. This doesn't happen to the other new Apple TV on the same network. Not sure if this is related or not.

I think I found the issue. So, the Apple TV is located right next to the new Airport Extreme and we were also noticing the Internet connection seemed to drop. Before bringing in the Apple TV, I decided to try connecting the Ethernet to see what happened. The Siri remote stopped its pattern of disconnecting and reconnecting and the Internet connection is steady so far. So, it confirms a hardware and isolates the issue. Still planning on bringing it in, but it's a workaround.

I had this problem too. I did the software reset, I did the re-pairing, and I even got a replacement remote. The problem persisted. And then it occurred to me that, to make for a neater appearance of all the devices, I'd placed the appletv box on top of my cable box. My theory is that the heat from the cable box was interfering with the Bluetooth connection. I moved the appletv device off the cable box (it's now next to it) and the problem stopped.
