Jan 2, 2016 8:53 AM in response to Kikrokby RobFocus,I've been having this same problem and I was wondering if my unit was defective and I should exchange it, but if other people are having the same issue I guess it's a problem with the app. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, it works at first but it happens again eventually. Most times the only thing that works is to unplug and plug the Apple TV. Even then, after a day or two it happens again.

Jan 2, 2016 10:38 AM in response to Kikrokby sonnyfrombuckeye,I'm having troubles with my CBS All Access app. After watching a video for a while,, hitting the MENU button to stop playback and go to the previous menu is met with an indefinitely spinning wheel on a black screen. The only way to get around this is by force-quitting the app and re-launching. It would seem that video playback is an issue across multiple apps on Apple TV 4. Based on this, I'd say it's an Apple issue. The apps are simply using Apple's devkit and standardized system functions to present their content. I'm putting this on Apple.

Jan 2, 2016 10:44 AM in response to sonnyfrombuckeyeby vazandrew,This is a thread for Netflix, it's best to create a separate one for your issue. In any case, the apps are developed by 3rd parties and just like when there is such an issue on another platform it is the developers responsibility to fix it.

Jan 3, 2016 10:47 PM in response to Kikrokby Little Dick,Hi, I was experiencing this exact same problem and in my case I found the solution. I use a DNS IP address provider (Unoelly in my case) and I had the DNS server addresses, both primary and secondary, programmed into the Apple TV Gen 4 unit. I removed these and programmed the Primary and Secondarty DNS server addresses direclty into my DSL router - the dropouts and freezes stopped altogether. Incidentally, my Gen 2 unit works just fine with the Primary IP address programmed into it - weird! Hope this helps.

Jan 16, 2016 11:08 AM in response to Kikrokby dudelar,I'm having the exact same issue. I can get it to work eventually but I've already deleted and re-installed the app twice now. Last night it froze up on the red circle screen again. I have netflix set-up through a playstation 3 and it works fine so it's definitely either a problem with the app itself, how it integrates with apple tv 4 or netflix needs to fix something on their end. anybody discover anything new?? VERY frustrated

Jan 16, 2016 11:49 AM in response to dudelarby dudelar,I just had a lengthy chat with Netflix customer service. They were very helpful and stated that it does seem to be a Netflix issue and that they've received multiple complaints about it and their engineers are aware and working on it. Hopefully it will be fixed quickly

Jan 22, 2016 9:42 AM in response to neomythby MsCopernic,Curious. I also contacted Netflix and they told me that I should contact Apple, they are 100% sure that their app is working perfectly ..

Jan 22, 2016 9:45 AM in response to Kikrokby MsCopernic,This morning I unpacked my old APT3 and installed it back. I'm using it only for Netflix and the APTV4 for the rest. I hope that some day a solution will appear. Just in case, both devices are connected to the same switch, just in case that someone may insist that this is a network problem.

Jan 22, 2016 10:04 AM in response to MsCopernicby vazandrew,The issue would be with their app and it is their responsibility to look into it, they are just giving you the runaround.

Jan 22, 2016 10:16 AM in response to vazandrewby MsCopernic,I completely agree with you, no one (Apple/Netflix) is taking resposability with this problem, at least not publicly.

Jan 24, 2016 2:34 PM in response to Kikrokby LeonardCohen2010,So we have a Apple TV 4 & Apple TV 2 & ONLY the Apple TV 4 has a Netflix goes to black screen problem.
We uninstall the Netflix app & reinstall it & it will work once & then black screen again.
The Generation 2 Apple TV works just fine.
