Cannot change view from 1 page to two

I am using v. 1.2 of iBooks on a MacBook Pro running Yosemite. Somehow, after pressing several keys, the page view changed from two pages to one, and I cannot change it back to two pages: In View, "Two Pages" is dimmed. How can I fix this problem?
