Q: Storage Space Fluctuating

On my 5s, my storage space seems to be constantly changing. I am always getting "storage space low" warnings, and always find myself below 100mb. Recently, my space as decreased to 0gb remaining. After deleting apps, old messages, music, pictures & emails (and deleting the deleted ones from the recycle bin), etc. my space does build back up. It went up to just over a gb, but then came right back down within a few hours. I have deleted so many things but i keep running low on storage. Today i deleted more messages, and a few videos, that brought it up to 700mb or so, then right back down to zero within the hour. Also, the apple "Health" app, seems to be taking up 533mb! I know that this is not normal. I've tried everything I can, including throwing it on the floor, but to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks...

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.0.2

    Hi Rileythedj,

It sounds like your phone pace seems to be getting used up just about as fast as you can clear space. I would first check to see what is using al this extra space on the phone so see if that leads you to the app that might be causing an issue:

View overall storage availability and storage used per app. Go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage

    Usage information

    http://help.apple.com/iphone/9/#/iph308c916d

If that doesn't yield you any useful information, I would quit all the running apps on the phone:

Force an app to close in iOS
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330

    1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
    2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
    3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Thanks, but i have already tried restarting my phone, that did not help. I regularly close my apps (swipe up) when i am done with them. The storage space doesn't change when I  have nothing running. The health app has climbed to 596mb as of tonight; despite me clearing my step count, etc..IMG_4581.PNG

It might next be a good idea, would be to backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works.

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204686

If it does work fine when restored as new, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself if it starts happening again after you get your backup reinstalled.

Will try updating from ios 8 to 9 this evening. Hopefully that will help. Last night, i started experiencing another problem (another person who has the same problem as me can be found here BUG? iOS 8 Settings Not Saving) The battery percentage suddenly disappeared and i can't turn in back on, i cant change my ringtones, cant turn off vibrate, etc. You can toggle the percentage on or off still, and select a new ringtone, but the settings don't save.
