Ipod shuffle restore error 1415

ok it appears lots of people are having problems withthe shuffle. I connected mine to itunes for the first time, it came up with it was corrupted and would need to be restored before being used in itunes, therefore i hit restore. it then came up with an error 1415 whatever that is. i have downloaded the shuffle reset facility but have had no luck with that either, that comes up with an error 25 message.

Can Any1 Help Me!!!

Same here, but I get an error 1418. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have already tried restoring. This problem came up after I downloaded the first version of iTunes 7. I was using magnets for a project at the time, and when the iPod stopped working, I thought that I had erased all of the data (drivers, etc.) because I got the flashing lights "error" message. Once I got my computer working again (3 weeks later(hard drive died, so dont start blaming Windows)), I installed the updated iTunes 7 and it didn't help at all. Nada. Zippo. Squat.

Once again, any help would be appreciated.

Is there an Apple representative who would like to comment (or has commented) on this topic? I tried installing iTunes 6 (seems like this all started when iTunes 7 came around, so I thought it was worth a shot), but iTunes 6 wouldn't open. I got a message saying that since a newer version of iTunes had updated my library, iTunes 6 wouldn't work. Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Tri

I too am receiving the error 1418. I just recently bought an iMac and when I downloaded iTunes 7 this problem came up the 3rd time I transferred music to it from iTunes. Now my Shuffle can't be restored and it's been sitting around useless for two weeks. Since I bought it way back in February of 2005, I'm out of my warranty and this forum is my only resort. I cannot believe I damaged the iPod permanently in anyway, the problem happened right in the middle of a Autofill. Help?

I also have the a similar problem. I don't understand what apple can do to correct the problem that we can't do ourselves.. there has to be a solution to this. I have reset my shuffle to original factory settings. Supposedly I don't need to restore it also. But when I add music it says that the disk can not be read or written. ARGH!!!! So frustrating!

I found the correct solution!

Throw it in the bin and forget about it! I've been trying for 5 months on and off trying to fix it. It's useless. I've never felt so conned in my life on what is probably the most pathetic piece of hardware I have ever owned.

There are literally thousands of people out there with the same issue and the only thing Apple do is release a reset utility that can only be described as hit and miss.

Apple store staff have seen this problem so many times, they don't even wan to bother with it anymore.

For now I'll stick with my Nano and hope that doesn't break too. But, it'll be the last Apple product I buy, not that they'll be arsed.

Ah well

Silly questions: Have you tried the Reset Utility on your 1st Gen Shuffle on a <gasp> Mac? OR, even on another computer besides yours?
