Q: Airport Express shows up on iPhone but not on a Macbook

Update - Turning off Wifi and turning it back on seemed to have fixed the issue.

I have an airport that is configured in client mode and is online. On my iPhone, i am able to chose Airplay and select the AE, however on my macbook, it does not show up. I'm running Airport Utility 6.3.1. The AE is connected to a Airport Extreme base station. Any idea how to make it discoverable? Macbook (4,0) is running 10.7.5 btw.

Should we assume that you have already powered off and restarted both your MacBook and the AirPort Express?

Any other troubleshooting steps that you have already performed?

We ask, since we don't want to waste your time by telling you to do things that you have already tried.

I restarted the Airport Express from the airport utility. But did not restart the macbook. But it is now fixed. I turned off wifi on the macbook and turned it back on. Though curious what makes it lose the connection.

Bugs in the Lion (10.7.5) operating system that still continue today in El Capitan. Turning things off, then turning them back on will fix about half of all problems about half of the time.

Hard to believe that the AirPort Utility software for the iPhone and iPad is better than the Mac software, but it is true.
