MacBook Pro frozen on Apple logo

Hi there,

My late 2011 MacBook Pro freezes on Apple logo when about 3/8ths of the way along the progress bar.

A full restore and reinstall of the hdd resulted in a working computer for about two days before the same issue occurred, I then replaced the hdd with a new ssd which again worked for 3 days or so but I now again have the same issue.

I'm assuming a logic board issue but just wondering if anyone has ideas on a fix?

I am speculating that you may have a defective SATA cable. Connect a boot drive to your MBP via USB and see if there are any problems. You could take out the internal drive to do this.

Thanks for your response,

I tried as you suggested and a few other things had the same issue. I'm now tossing up between taking it into apple and spending a lot of money trying to fix it or instead using that money to buy a new one.

If you make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar, they may be able to diagnose the exact problem for you. The evaluations are always FREE. You are not obligated to to have them repair the MBP.
