Q: Photos import options are greyed out

My new iPhone 6S is no longer prompting Photos to import. The phone shows up in Photos, but the import options are greyed out. This is sudden, seems to have started yesterday and resolved after restarting the computer, but that's not a permanent solution.Photos-import-problem.png

Have you restarted the iPhone as well?

Are you using iCloud Photo Library?

    Thank you for your reply.

    Yes I've restarted phone.

Yes I'm using iCloud Photo Library, though it often seems to take a very long time to upload.

While it was still connected to your Mac?  If not try it.

If you enable My Photo Stream on your iPhone

    and in your iPhoto Library

your photos will automatically be added to the My Photo Stream and imported into your library whenever the Mac and iPhone are connected to WiFi. Have you tried that method?
