iWork 09 on new Mac

I just bought a new iMac. Because my old iMac had a lot of junk on it I did not want to restore from the old iMac to the new iMac. I have been reinstalling apps I purchased from the App Store. However I still have need of the old iWork 09 apps to do things like mail merge the the new Pages does not yet provide. Is there some way to move the iWork 09 apps from the old to the new iMac or otherwise rental them?

Thanks.

If your old iWork '09 applications were installed from the retail iWork '09 DVD, then you will have to reinstall them, and then apply the Apple iWork 9.3 update, for El Capitan compatibility. If those iWork '09 applications were purchased from the OS X App Store, then only those apps can be moved/restored to your current machine. Never apply the Apple iWork 9.3 update to OS X App Store sourced iWork '09 applications. You will need an external DVD player to reinstall iWork '09 DVD applications.

You cannot rent iWork '09 applications, and these applications are no longer available from Apple. If you attempt to download Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from the App Store, they will be the latest updates, and not iWork '09 applications.

I know that Pages '09 v4.3 (last revision) has begun to exhibit some lost features in Yosemite and El Capitan. Apple has zero focus on maintaining foreward OS X compatibility with the retired iWork '09 applications.

  1. Sharing menu

Send via Mail items no longer work

  2. Mail Merge

Some Mail merge interface menus are missing that are shown in the Pages '09 User Guide.

Although I do have the install DVD from a prior machine, the apps I had on my most recent iMac were from the App store. Is there some way to "move/restore" these from the old iMac as I believe you implied, or did you mean a full machine migrations which I did not want to do. I tried moving the application file and the iWork 09 folder in the Library application support folder, but the apps will still not open. Is there something else to move or method to reinstall?

It is the mail merge function I need for my annual Christmas Letter.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is Pages 4.3 (1048).

I also realized I had put the Application Support folder for iWork '09 in the wrong location. When I moved it to the proper place I no longer get the error report screen when I try to launch pages, but rather get a pop up message that says there are missing files. This also happens for Numbers and Keynote although Pages is the app I am most concerned about.

Thanks again for your help.
