Not sure I'm understanding your last statement? As for the first part, whether the email address still exists or not, it is still the Apple ID for the Apple account it was set up under. You can try going to Apple - My Apple ID, then click on Reset Password. If you are able to answer the Security Questions, then you will be able to change the password.

If you are not able to answer the Security Questions, then you would have to contact Apple Support to have them reset:

    ACCOUNT SECURITY CONTACT

Bottom line, purchases are forever associated with the Apple ID that they were purchased with, so you would have to get the password for that Apple ID reset in order to be able to re-download the music.

Be aware that if you sign into iTunes on your Mac with that ID, and then download the past purchases, you will not be able to download any past purchases with your current ID for 90 days. You can still make new purchases, but you cannot download past purchases, use iTunes Match, or use Automatic Downloads during the 90-day period:

View and remove associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support

    Best of luck,

Gail, thanks for that I tried but Apple then sent info to the email I no longer have access too, I'm not sure but i think either they or me are slightly out of any known loop, thinking about it it's probably me!

So you contacted Apple directly and explained to them that the email on the account was no longer a valid email address?

    Cheers,
