Q: Hard Drive issue

So my Mac froze one day and I did a hard reset and then got welcomed with the white screen and the blinking question mark folder.

From what hat is posted on here my hard drive is pooched and missing in action as it could not be found to reboot the software.

My question is anyone who has had this issue how much did it cost to get fixed at the apple store?

You don't say which exact model and year computer you use. If your computer is older than 5 years they may not even look at it at an Apple Store because they do not support vintage and obsolete hardware.  However, the advantage of having an older computer is it is very easy to replace the hard drive yourself.  I know you can get a 1TB drive for about $70, smaller ones obviously costing less. You will also need two special size screwdrivers which you can probably get from the same vendor from who you purchase the drive.

I would recommend starting with the OWC or mac-sales.com web site where they will walk you through model search and upgrade options. They also have DIY videos.

It's a MacBook Pro bought it in 2011, when I brought it in to apple to inquire they didn't say anything about it being too old? I just now finally made an appointment
