Headphones making loud static noise when I play audio?

I got a little bit of water on my iphone 6 earlier but it wasn't a lot and I'm thinking it could've gotten into the headphone jack. The sound was fine before but all of a sudden any audio playing through headphones is loud and static. It's not the headphones for sure. should I get it checked out or maybe the sound will go back to normal? Speakers are also fine. Please help cause the headphone jack is like the most important 😢

Hello Christina,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I understand correctly, you're concerned about possible liquid damage to your iPhone 6 because water got on it and now the sound is distorted when you use a headset. If you haven't already, take a look at the article linked below and try the general troubleshooting tips that it provides.

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

If the issue persists, you will most likely have to have the device repaired or replaced. The webpage below outlines the warranty information and service options for your device.

Hello Christina,

It might be just be a setting not configured properly, but if your device was exposed to a liquid (as you said) there is a possibility that your hardware got damaged, hopefully its the alternative.

I also experienced a similar issue.

I connected a Speaker to my iPhone, using an Auxiliary Cable.

I was listening to music, when suddenly a static noise started.

My solution:

1. Go to Settings.

2. Click on General.

3. Navigate to the last option "Reset".

4. Click on Reset.

5. Click on Reset All Settings.

Your device will restart, and the problem should be resolved.

*This solution does not remove any content from your iPhone, it only resets your Settings to Default.

Good Luck,

my situation was different. I hooked my iPad up to a distortion pedal and hooked that up to my amp (I play guitar) and then remembered I forgot to replace the pedals battery ( it was working just before). I took out the battery and put a new one in. Luckily I forgot to turn the actual distortion pedal on and it didn't kill me with double distortion. I tried the solution you guys said but it didn't work
