Q: iPad Pro: iOS App barely audible, all others blow your ears off. Why?

I picked up my new iPad Pro the other day and restored it from a backup of my previous iPad. All goes well, however the vast majority of the iOS apps that have some kind of alert to them are barely addible. If an email, message, new alert, or calendar events takes place no matter what sound is chosen, or how loud I crank of the volume, it sounds like a small mouse whispering to me. Half the the time I hear nothing (and yes the volume is on and I have it cranked). However, if I play a YouTube video, listen to music, or any non-Apple App the volume is clearly maxed and with the 4 speakers it blows my ears off (really great at 4 AM for a non-Apple App let me tell you... but the alarm clock is so quiet on the iPad Pro I slept threw it). I've done the usual, tried changing system sounds, re-start, erased and reloaded from an even earlier backup, -same deal. Anyone else have this crazy issue?

I think others have also reported this issue so you're not alone.

When you got the device, did you immediately set it up from a previous backup? If so, the first thing I'd do is to backup your device as it is now (so it's easy to restore from that backup), then restore the device and set it up as new, installing only what you need to test. Test the device for the issue in this "as new" state.

If the issue is not resolved setup as new, simply restore from your backup since that's likely not the cause.

If the issue is resolved when setup as new, there may be something in the backup that's not playing nice with the Pro.

You then have the option to leave it as is with the old backup, waiting for a fix from Apple or setup as new and reinstall everything from scratch.
