iPad Pro screen is yellow

Just got my new iPad Pro and love it, best iPad ever. But I've noticed the screen color temperature is significantly shifted more toward the warm/yellow tones than my other two iPads, which are cool/bluish. I like th blue better, it makes whites look cleaner. I was wondering if this is a common issue?

If you read the whole article, night shift will, based on time and location, will automatically reduce the cooler blue color and make the color temperature more warmer (read as more yellow) for easier reading during night hours, then automatically return to the cooler, blue temperature during daylight hours.

Which begs if the current displays in the 128 GB iPad Pros have been purposely skewed toward a warmer, yellow temperature all along and is not a defect or glue issue after all.

Looking some video review on iOS9.3, it seems that it is possible to disable the schedule and keep the night shift options always enabled. My only doubt is related to the minimum color temperature that is possible to setup with the night shift option. Since the night shift option is born to increase the color temperature of the display, I suspect that the minimum temperature set by the night shift option is equal to the standard color temperature of the device. In this case, the night shift option would not be useful to solve our issue.

Purchased an iPad Pro roughly two weeks ago, first one came with dirt under the screen like spots after waiting a few days to come, anyway, they changed it for a brand new one at the Apple Store, now I'm on the second iPad Pro and it's less than 24hrs old and I have noticed it has a yellow tint to the screen. I have also noticed that it's running slightly warmer in temperature than my last one. I have the latest iOS software and I have also done a hard reset which makes no different. Today after visiting the Apple Store I was told that they can replace it again but they can't keep doing this. My brother has the same 32GB iPad which has a cool/white colour screen which I prefer, however because he had this for Christmas and it was pre-ordered he lost out on warranty which means he cannot purchase the Apple Care + as your warranty/refunds start from the day you purchase even if you have to wait before it arrive in the post.

We also asked about the new iPhone 6S Plus as I'm thinking of upgrading my current iPhone. The manager clearly explained to me it has a bigger and better battery, however after reading online and knowing a lot about Apple, they make the new iphone 6S Plus 1mm thicker because of the blending problem... (they will not admit this but it's true as its happened to mine). Also the old iPhone 6 Plus battery has a 2915mah battery and the new iPhone 6S Plus has a 2750mah, which is a lower quality, however the software helps save power. The manager and specialist both agreed it has a much bigger and better battery, and they would not listen to me, and in fact they got so annoyed they banned me for the store for asking questions and trying to get a refund on my iPad Pro.

I have been on the phone for hours today to customer support, hopefully getting a refund tomorrow. I spend thousands with Apple, love their products and I always purchase from them for the customer service they give, however after experinecing today I will not ever be buying an apple product again. Plus I hate being lied to so they can try and get a sale.

I have had my new iPP for a few days and just noticed the yellowing on the top part of my screen (in portrait orientation) on my 128GB Wifi Gold. It seems like a 'nicotine' stained area there at the top. It's not overly pronounced, but it is noticeable- I did not seek out the defect, I noticed it myself and then found this thread. I have initiated an exchange with Staples (great customer service) and I'm hoping I have good luck with the exchange, but I'm having my doubts.

Has anyone ever successfully exchanged for one with a good, perfectly even display?

Has anyone had their yellow screen "cure" itself over several weeks and essentially fix itself of the yellow, as been rumored by some to occur?

Love the size of the device. I just can't justify keeping it with this defect.

hi acribb nicotine stain sound a good way to describe it ..its uneven .ive had brown box replacements but they all have the same problem .the ones in the apple stores are all perfect.they wont cure over time that's noncence..I love the device and have said many times for artists this is the way to go,ive had lots of hastle ,had to make several phone calls and I still haven't got a good screen ..in a dark room it does look like a nicotine stain like you say ..if I end up getting a good one I will post back

That is exactly how mine is!

At lower than 50% brightness, the display is pretty much an even all over dim yellow.

At 80% to full screen brightness, it is a pretty even blue hue.

Unfortunately, I don't use my display at the higher brightnesses because battery life diminishes greatly with higher brightness screen and becuse at the higher screen brightness settings, it is just too dang bright for my eyes causing me headaches.

I use all of my iPads at a lowered screen brightness for battery consevation and at lower brightness settings, even my iPad 2 and 3 models take on a slight yellowish hue.

Mine is mostly white and has an extremely slight yellowish hue towards the top of the screen when in portrait position. Probably the top 2". No, it doesn't go away. I actually complained and got a replacement from Staples, but my replacement was actually worse than the original- it had spotlighting on the edges under a black screen and the screen in general was about the same overall yellow tint as the example you are showing. I ended up just keeping the original since its edge lighting was perfecly even. I love having this large screen. I'm spoiled now......

The color on my iPad Pro 9.7" is the same as my iPad Air 2.

Have you tried this?

Go into Settings > Display & Brightness:

Turn Off: True Tone

Turn Off: Night Shift

Both change the color temperature of the display. I turned off True Tone because I prefer the consistently cooler color temperature of the screen with True Tone set to Off.

The purpose of True Tone is to match the color of the screen to the reflected light coming from the ambiant lighting. Useful if you use the iPad Pro for drawing or viewing artwork.

I don't use Night Shift, but it is supposed to aid insomnia by also changing the color temperature of the screen to a warmer tone at night. How much warmer or cooler is adjustable using the slider under Night Shift in settings.

Thanks for your reply but the ipad pro we are talking about is the 12.9" version. We don't have True Tone display and of course Night Shift mode is turned off. By the way I realized that the warmer screen color on my ipad pro 12.9" performs better on movies compared to bluish screens. This is completely subjective of course.

Any updates on this issue folks?

Just got a 32gb ipad pro, dated from January and it has the annoying uneven tint. I wish it was uniformly yellow.

Anyone managed to grab a newer one and see if the issue is sorted out?

For those who had the gradient, did it fade away with time?
