My iphone screen is black after setting it down on my counter. My home button is broken but I can still receive messages. I called it from a different phone and it rang, but I couldnt pick it up because the screen is black. Please help! iPhone 5c w newest update

Without a functioning home button, there is no way for you to reset the phone, which is the recommended troubleshooting step. You can wait for the battery to die and then plug it in, hoping that would be enough of a reset, or you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store to have the home button fixed, and the Genius can get you back going again.
