Re download and install the drivers from the Epson website for the OS X installed on your Mac > http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=41663&infoType=Down loads
Then open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners then select the Print tab.
Then click âž• to add the printer.
If you aren't sure which OS X is installed on your Mac, click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click: About This Mac en select the Overview tab.
You'll see the OS X version noted there.

Unplug the printer cable, reset the printing system, restart the Mac, plug the printer cable back in.
The problem is, when I click + nothing shows up in the pop up box--no pull down menu or anything. The reason I originally deleted it is that all of a sudden today when I tried to print I was getting a message that the printer was not connected (NOT that is didn't find it). I checked the cable and it was in fully and it was working a couple of days ago. The copy function still works however. Do you think the + might not work if something happened with the cable?
THANK YOU THANK YOU 🙂 I do not have El Capitan but it worked perfectly and I can print again. BTW--I have Yosemite--just bought the computer about 2 months ago. Do you recommend upgrading to El Capitan
What cable, USB or Ethernet?
USB
by "reset the printing system" do you mean turn it off and on?
The instructions work for 10.8 through 10.11 (Mountain Lion to El Capitan)
I upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan, they are similar, but ElCap is superior.
thanks for all your help!!!
