Already hate apple after 1 hour

I have just downloaded itunes for free podcasts. After discovering I have to input payment details with no 'none' option available and then face a charge of £1.58 for nothing I will be closing my account at the first oppurtunity. I will never buy from apple if this is how you operate/scam.

Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method - Apple Support

About payment card authorization holds in the iTunes Store - Apple Support

The 'none' option should be available when creating my Apple ID. Devious practices like this are a very poor start to a customer relationship.I will still be cancelling my account and sticking to Soundcloud in future.
